The Shadow Collective was first established in the Fall of 2014 as TheatreOCU's premiere devised theatre troupe dedicated to identifying social issues and displaying them in a piece of theatrical work. Their goal was to bring the issues out of the shadows and into the light.

Now in 2019, The Shadow Collective hopes to be the outlet people need to present art that is diverse, accessible, and completely unafraid of any difficulty which may present itself.

 

We provide opportunities for collegiate artists in every area of the creative process to discuss issues without holding back when it comes to portraying and diagnosing the human condition. We place artistic integrity and the needs of our campus above tradition.

"It is easy to look into the light and see clearly. It's much more difficult to allow your eyes to adjust to the darkness and see what is hidden. It is our job to explore concepts and themes which people choose to ignore, and use original theatre to drag these ideas into the stage light."
